Where Are We From?

We are from a little town in Northwest Florida called Niceville. And, yes we are nice. Any jokes made through the contact form will be marked as spam. Just Kidding.

What Makes Our Team Different From Others?

1) Our Team is all about low cost, and high engineering. An unofficial motto of sorts.
2) Our Official motto is "better is the enemy of good enough."

Our Team

Team 2556, the Radioactive Roaches, is an up and coming robotics team looking to establish a presence not only on the battlefield but also on the digital field. The 2008 competition was our first year. We will be attending the 2009 regional competition in New Orleans and hopefully qualify to make it to Atlanta.

Our team is made up of dedicated young men and women who strive to be the best at what they do. Founded in late 2007, we began with the prospect of competing in the FRC competitions. Discussions ensued and eventually the decision was made and preparations began to form this team of clashing metal.

Our Robot

2008 - Raoul T. Robo Roach: A first year, rookie robot and possibly the only one with a pneumatic actuator made of PVC while using the skid steer concept. Height: 19 inches. Weight: 120 pounds.

2009 - Top secret. Shhhh!

This Site

Unlike last year's web site, this is a fully custom XHTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript site which was built from the ground up. It was build by the Web team of JD Rood and Connor McKelvey, and just in time to be submitted for judging!

Our greatest thanks to our instructors, mentors, and supervisors: Mr. Shuman, and too Mr. Mac, Mr. Durrett, and Mr. Laroe. We must also thank the teams that have helped us most in out infancy: Exploding Bacon and Team Crunch. Last but not least, we extend our thanks to all those who played any role in this years competition!
